CASSIE & LUCAS - 5 Hours Coverage

388 Photos

High Church in Fortitude Valley was so popular for weddings I lost count of the number of times I shot there. Regrettably, High Church where Cassie & Lucas were married is now permanently closed at the time of writing this. These photos were captured in 2019, and High Church closed sometime in 2024 (probably not long after my last wedding there in October 2024).

The same cannot be said for Saccharomyces Beer Cafe which is still very much around and has gone from strength to strength, and continues to receive rave reviews online since it’s opening in 2015.

It was very much a ‘left field’ pick as a wedding venue back then, but it turned out to be fantastic especially for the confetti grand entrance right down the middle of Fish Lane!

Check out the portraits and you will see something that is quite rare… the couple opted to have portraits captured at Roma Street Parklands in the middle of the day - in full sunshine! This required setting up an extremely large and powerful softbox to fill in the shadows and provide nice soft, balanced light. To be honest, it’s not something I would really recommed because the poor couple were absolutely sweltering in the sun… but we still managed to get some really nice and unique portraits using this method.

Another portrait sessions was held at Musgrave Park near sunset, where we managed to get even more sunkissed shots at the park and in the surroundings laneways as we headed back to Saccharomyces Beer Cafe.
