W HOTEL & THE GARDEN ROOM 26 OCT 2024

W Hotel, my favourite getting ready Brisbane hotel location never fails to deliver (rain or shine). That’s because it has many indoor areas that can be used for capturing portraits in case of rain, or just to remain in air conditioned comfort.

For the wedding of Nick & Ash it all started at the W Hotel with capturing details shots such as the dress, jewelley, flowers and accessories. Nick & Ash had booked a suite room, so there was plenty of space to lay out details including hanging the dress.

A first look took place outside the W Hotel downstairs, in the garden area near the valet parking area. This always provides such great, soft light as it’s sheltered from the sun mostly throughout the day.

For portraits we headed to Roma Street Parklands where the couple enjoyed a leisurely walk through the park as we captured numerous portraits with the sun peaking through at times, but mostly it was fully cloudy. The gorgeous flowers in The Spectacle Garden provided just the right amount of colour and contrast to make the photos pop even on an overcast day.

After our 30 minute portrait session we headed to The Garden Room, a very popular Brisbane venue for both weddings and corporate events. There the guests had started to arrive and enjoy drinks and the lavish grazing board.

What struck me most about this wedding was how everything was just magically setup in advance and just looked perfect, from the flowers to the cup cakes and wishing wells it was all so cleverly coordinated. An acoustic guitarist and singer played ballads in the background as guests enjoyed free flowing cocktails as sunset approached.
