My Recommended Brisbane WEDDING & EVENT Vendors
There are some amazing venues in Brisbane that allow outside caterers (or in fact, have no kitchen on-site meaning you have to BYO).
Three very popular venues in Brisbane that allow this are Lightspace, Brookfield Hall and Loyal Hope. I have shot at all three of these locations more than once, and as a result I noticed that one company in particular seemed to be very popular - Sorella & Co!
So I have eaten their food several times and was very impressed not only with the food, but just with how professional and friendly their staff were and how they were actually on time.
Often with caterers and some food trucks there are issues with getting power cables sorted or other last minute problems that cause delays. Or in the case of a spit roast caterer one time… he just got lost trying to find the place!
Can you imagine the outright tragedy it would be if you had arranged for commercial caterers only for them to not show up, or get the dates wrong or whatever.
Sorella & Co are in my experience, always going to deliver in terms of amazing food, sticking to the schedule and just delighting guests.
I highly recommend Sorella & Co, and especially the pork belly!
Sometimes when I meet other professional videographers they can be a bit ‘stand offish’ or not really interested in helping each other out. Not so with Cass from Captive Media! She was hands down one of the easiest, friendliest and just helpful people to work with during a hectic and busy corporate event we both attended at The Warehouse in Fortitude Valley in February 2023.
Cass specialises in the construction industry, however she is available for any corporate or commercial event such as awards dinners, conferences, trade shows etc. Check out her portfolio and website here.
I also noticed when working alonside Cass just how careful she was to work with me in terms of us both getting the shots and angles we needed. Without a doubt I would recommend Cass for any corporate event videography, and she is also well prepared to shoot more documentary style wedding coverage (for example, if you just wanted the ceremony and speeches recorded - which I highly recommend).
This recommendation comes right from the heart, because Rosanne was the celebrant for my wedding in 2014 at Braeside Chapel on the Gold Coast. In September 2021 I came across Rosanne again, this time as the celebrant for Emma & Kane who got married at Tamborine Wedding Gardens.
Rosanne is the sort of celebrant (the good sort!) who just puts you instantly at ease, and you can tell she has your best intentions at heart. Looking back at the photos of Emma & Kane you can tell she was enjoying the ceremony as much as the newly weds, with smiles beaming from ear to ear.
Rosanne is way too modest about her experience and charm, she seems to ‘fly under the radar’ with her simple website (which I don’t think has changed much since 2014!) and not much of a social media presence. Don’t let that deter you, I can tell you in all my experience as both a groom and wedding photographer that Rosanne is amongst the very best when it comes to providing a professional, memorable and intimate wedding service.
I first met Matty at the wedding of Jenna & Matt at the Redland Bay Golf Course in May 2021. Matty performed live acoustic music, and was also the DJ for the party phase of the night.
Matty is a super friendly, easy going and professional and was very easy to work with throughout the night. He also helped out on his own accord when I was trying to usher guests for a large photo (which was very much appreciated). He is a natural behind the microphone , gets on well with all guests and is truly experienced and talented.
Mr Entertainment is one of my top picks for a DJ/Musician/MC in Brisbane.
Had the absolute pleasure of meeting Kiefa one of the owners of Insta Kombi at the wedding of Chantelle & Dane at North Shore Harbour Cafe in March 2020. Right from the get-go I noticed she was super friendly with everyone, helpful, considerate and full of energy. I don’t think there was a single guest who didn’t take advantage of the photo both, young and old! I often meet photo-both operators, and to be honest some forget about the importance of having fun and getting into the mood. Kiefa has an awesome product, and a personality to boot.
It also made for a fantastic backdrop to other photos outside, and sort of functioned as a central gathering point for all the other guests at the wedding. All the guests seemed to love it, and especially the boot of the kombi which was decked out with a mirror and lots of props for guests.
Based on my experience, and their current 17 five-star reviews on Google, Insta Kombi is definitely one of my vendor picks.
I first met Jamie in March 2018 at the wedding of Sarah & Andrew at Enoteca in Woolloongabba. Being one of Brisbane’s most popular wedding celebrants (the most popular?) meant that it wasn’t long before we met again later in 2019 at the wedding of Rachel & Dave.
Jamie always takes time to chat to other vendors and genuinely help out wherever he can to make the day a success. At the wedding of Rachel & Dave I really pushed my luck with his cooperation by asking him to walk down the aisle so I could take test shots! He readily obliged, and it was super helpful.
In all my dealings with Jamie he has been friendly, professional and cool as a cucumber. Just what you want on your wedding day, and probably another reason Jamie & Cara were independently recognised as amongst the top 3 Marriage Celebrants in Brisbane by Three Best Rated – 2017, 2018 & 2019.
